Every year, Overdale Kennel hosts an event in late September as a fundraiser for the charity ICP Care. Our latest fundraiser ran on September 28, 2019. Guests participated in an agility fun match, with every dollar that came through the doors going directly to ICP Care. ICP Care is a 401(c)(3) non-profit, dedicated to raising awareness and education and supporting research of Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP). ICP is a little-known, but serious liver disorder of pregnancy which affects about 1-2 of every 1000 pregnancies in the United States.
Over 70 agility runs kept spectators entertained throughout the day. Dogs and handlers competed in a variety of courses, ranging in difficulty from beginners to masters. Top teams in each class received special awards.
Meanwhile, inside the training center, a silent auction and bake sale raised money for the charity. Many individuals and businesses donated items such as a team-autographed football from the Green Bay Packers, custom artwork, dog-themed gifts and baskets, quilts, agility jumps, Caribou Coffee from Nilssen’s Foods, and much, much more.
Thanks to the hard work of all our volunteers and the generosity of our donors, Overdale Kennel raised over $2000 for ICP Care. This one event pays for the charity to attend one of the major medical conferences each year, where team members connect with health care providers, researchers, and specialists from around the country and around the globe.
